Brassia maculata is found in Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Cuba and Jamaica commonly found growing in deitrus over rocks at altitudes below 750 meters as a large sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte and occasional lithophyte with ovoid to oblong-elliptic, compressed pseudobulbs subtended by old, grey, basal, leaf bearing sheaths and carrying 2 apical, oblong-ligulate, coriaceous, acute or obtuse, conduplicate below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a to 90 cm long, loosely few to many flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with remote, tubular sheaths and carrying large, waxy, long-lived fragrant flowers.

This orchid does well in baskets or pots with a open mix that provides good drainage.
