Cattleya percivaliana 'tipo#3 x fma. pelorica 'Hercules'
Cattleya percivaliana primarily originates from the mountains of northwestern Venezuela, although there have been reports of its presence in the adjacent country of Colombia. Typically, this species is located at altitudes ranging between 1400 to 2000 meters. However, it displays a degree of adaptability to lower elevations, as evidenced by successful cultivation even in warm, sea-level regions like South Florida. While it typically thrives as an epiphyte, it's also been observed to grow lithophytically on rocky cliffs, receiving abundant sunlight.
In comparison to other labiate cattleyas, Cattleya percivaliana is generally of a smaller stature, typically reaching a height of around one foot. During the autumn or winter, it produces flowers in quantities of 2 to 6. Although in its natural habitat it blooms earlier, it has become customary to associate this orchid species with the Christmas season due to its consistent bloom during that time.
