Dendrobium lituflorum is found in the Chinese Himalayas, Assam, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam in broadleaved forests on tree trunks at elevations around 300 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte and has clustered, slender, reed-like, pendulous, 11 to 15 noded, covered in sheaths, basally swollen stems carrying deciduous, fleshy, linear-lanceolate, acutish leaves. Spring through autumn should be the wet time for this plant and then almost no water is needed till after blooming in February or March. The 1 to 5, longlasting, fragrant flowers on each short scape with large bracts arise out of the nodes all along the dried cane on short racemes and usually appear for up to 2 weeks and they are deliciously scented. It is normal for it to drop it's leaves in the dry season. This plant is best mounted on tree fern as it has a very pendulous growth up to 89cm long.
