Stanhopea inodora is found in Mexico, Belize and Nicaragua in wet montane forests on trees at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters as a medium sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte or occasional terrestrial along roads on steep banks with ribbed, sulcate pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several dry sheaths and carrying a single, apical, plicate, elliptic-lanceolate, gradually narrows below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf and blooms on a pendulous, several to many [to 10] flowered inflorescence occuring in the spring and summer with showy, fragrant flowers.
