Tillandsia butzii, also called as Platystachys inanis, Tillandsia inanis, Tillandsia variegata, is a species of the genus Tillandsia. This species was described by Carl Christian Mez in 1935. T. butzii. The Tillandsia. butzii is native to Central America, especially the areas of southern Mexico to Panama. It is a small sized epiphyte, which reaching 20 to 25 cm in size, with the relatively few, wispy tentacle like leaves that form a rosette. The leaves are green in colour and are spotted with dark and light green spots, and a bulbous base. The leaves may curl further if the plant lacks water. The Tillandsia butzii air plant blooms from the quite long (20 cm), inflorescence that is red in colour with bright purple flowers. Pups will grow out from the base of the Tillandsia butzii, and if left to grow, can form a pretty impressive clump over time.
